"It would genuinely be more efficient to just teach more people Latin in order to read the vast literary corpus of Latin theology and culture rather than to painstakingly have to translate each and every work into various languages." -Daniel Tyler Chua

Did you know that standard Arabic is a “dead” language, like Latin? It has no native speakers, and hasn’t for centuries. But no one would deny that it is “alive” in every other sense: people converse in it, write in it, think in it, learn in it, make friends in it.

Et nos icones fieri debemus!
“An Eastern Christian saw a photo of Father de Foucauld sitting on my desk and said, ‘This face is an icon.’ It’s true. We too must become icons of God’s mystery, more transparent, showing forth eschatology by placing ourselves at the heart of the cross and resurrection.” — Marie-Joseph Le Guillou

18th century schools were so serious about speaking Latin that they even taught students how to fight and tattle in Latin instead of English.
