Looking for the perfect Christmas present? What about the gift of WISDOM??? I'm running an online Scholastic Latin class in spring 2026. The class will focus on acquiring fluency in reading through modern second language pedagogy. Comment or DM if interested!

Oh for ure I'm familiar with Marenbon's argument and I'm sympathetic! I see similar things, though not as extreme, from e.g. classicists ("Late Antiquity") and historians ("Long Middle Ages"). As a medievalist it's fun to watch.

It's an honor to teach with the Lyceum Institute, and it was a privilege to talk with Dr. Kemple about what it means to be a classical educator.

"It would genuinely be more efficient to just teach more people Latin in order to read the vast literary corpus of Latin theology and culture rather than to painstakingly have to translate each and every work into various languages." -Daniel Tyler Chua

Did you know that standard Arabic is a “dead” language, like Latin? It has no native speakers, and hasn’t for centuries. But no one would deny that it is “alive” in every other sense: people converse in it, write in it, think in it, learn in it, make friends in it.
