Leftish Stax obsessive. Occasional bass, with mental health issues. Real ones. WE NEED MORE HATS. Views only mine if they're any good.
Sheffield, but WWFC.
Out tonight to see Carlos Alomar, George Murray, Kevin Armstrong, Tal Bergman and more doing Bowie '76-'80.

Lead singer was Cunio. Very strong, and at least a three octave range.

Keys was Axel Tosca. He did a solo that sounded to me like a romantic classical piece. Can anyone tell me?

Congratulations to the red half of my adopted home city. Commiserations to the blue one. Hope it went smoothly.

Didn't know this. Just listened. It's really good. A definite find. Thanks.

And my audition earlier I think went decently, for me. I'm OK, but no great singer. However, this one I love.

There's also a really good a capella cover here www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAD8...

Here's the choir version. I love the original. I happened to be in Austria (on honeymoon, obv) when it first came out and it was on MTV heavy rotation. It's a brilliant pop song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OY-...

I've heard it hundreds and hundreds of times. Still no idea what most of the lyrics are.

Settling down to pick my choices for tomorrow's #WeeklyMusicCall. I saw Robert Plant has done a Tiny Desk, so I'll check that.
But, of course, I'm listening to a choral version of Nur Ein Wort that I played a couple of months ago.

It’s #Caturday so how dare we serve Axl’s lunch a few minutes late?!

Well, I'm in Bolsover to sing. Including an audition later. See how much of what I intend I remember in the moment.

Struggling. I've had a long, strong run, for me. Fear it's in jeopardy. Oh well.

Just off a mixed #WeeklyMusicCall. A couple of duds, but also some very strong ones. Including, in the latter camp this, by Ellur. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wDS...

Not long out of Sunny Afternoon, The Kinks musical. With friends in York.

A v slow lunch beforehand. The sound wasn't 100%. But the songs, the songs...

Some lovely arrangements too. I tip my hat to whoever did Days a capella. Others were really well done too. Must listen to the cast album at home.

A salary of £1,000 billion is so far beyond obscene that there aren't even words for it. Farcical that it got voted through.

Gary O'Neil!?!
*sighs*

What makes Fosun think he'll succeed if he returns? Apart from that he's unemployed.

Watching last night's #GirlGroups show from BBC2. Pretty much a solid wall of absolute bangers. Well, one or two less epic. But it's got B*Witched, who had that 2 mins 57s of pop perfection with C'est L Vie. Clearly the most important.

This is a superb choir version of one of my favourite songs: Lawrence's Don't Lose Sight. They've really captured the joy of it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Biwx...

I wasn't looking for this, but I've just seen a copy of The Warlock of Love up for £450. Blimey. The jacket's in a little better nick than mine, mind. Both first editions. #MarcBolan

Autumn colour at Wardsend this morning. The River Don, the entrance to the cemetery taken from the bridge and a view from the top of the main path near the old Sheffield to Manchester railway line.

Well, Wolves continue to find new ways to plumb the depths. Looking totally clueless and hopeless at the moment. I can't see how it changes, even they get rid of Pereira.

That new contract looks ever more daft. Plus Fosun still seem disinclined to sell. So, down we go. #WWFC

Right, I've joined a book club c/o the fabulous @kateshipway.bsky.social.

For the next book, they wanted some classic literature but not as long as, say, Anna Karenina. So I suggested Adam Bede, which I read thirty years ago and remember loving.

Going (back) in.

Not a good season to be a Wolves fan. We already look doomed.

Today being an exemplar for our season. At home, mediocre but competent opponents, last minute defeat. The defence has become awful. #WWFC

It's hard to see much chance of a recovery whilst Fosun hold the (v tightly controlled) reins.

@ingridandress.bsky.social Evening Ingrid. Only to say I'm listening to some of your work, which is, frankly, bloody brilliant. Helps get me through.

Mixing you with some Katherine Priddy, a folk-y singer here in the UK. Also superb.

Hoping to hear more from you. And gigs'd be really good too.
