JUST IN: The White House has begun DEMOLISHING portions of the East Wing of the White House to build Trump’s $250 million ballroom — despite earlier claiming it wouldn’t “interfere” with the existing White House structure. (Washington Post)

Most of the power authoritarians have is freely given. We should not comply with them in advance.

Trump is far weaker than he looks. So is the GOP. We should draw them out, drain them at every opportunity, and fight for people’s wellbeing at every turn.

We have been sent here to fight for people.
AOC: I think there's two things that are happening at once: One, there absolutely is an unprecedented abuse of power, destruction of norms, erosion of our government and our democracy in order to prop up an authoritarian style of governance

However, they are weaker than they look…

I tell people that the problem is not coming up with ideas, I think of a couple dozen of them a day. The real problem is knowing which of the damn things is any good for writing up. Most of them are junk. I have to let them roll around in my brain a while to find out which is which.
Do you have a clever/pithy/useful answer when people ask where you get your ideas? If so, can I steal it?

Pittsburgh is a union town, and we're proud of it.

Labor is at the forefront of the fight against authoritarianism, because we know solidarity is stronger than any dictator.

To our union workers this Labor Day and every day–I've always got your back ✊🏾

Democrats just MASSIVELY overperformed in 2 Florida special elections.

House 40: Harris +35 → RaShon Young +50 (75–25).
Senate 15: Harris +23 → Lavon Bracy Davis +45 (73–27).

That’s 15- and 22-point swings toward Democrats.

Once again this White House is making baseless, cruel cuts—this time to Job Corps centers, including in Pittsburgh.

These centers provide young people with educational support, career + technical trainings, and housing.

Congress already funded them thru FY25. The admin must reverse course.

This will be catastrophic for millions across the country, including in #PA12.
