While this usually isn't the intent, "no one will ever be held accountable for this" doomerism is an excuse not to try.

There'll be at least some accountability if enough Americans work for it. And this time really is different. Doesn't guarantee the aftermath will be, but it increases the chances.

I cannot emphasize enough how little I want to see AI illustrations of blog posts. Ethics aside, it is boring to look at one version of a computer's simulation of what a human might have done. I'd rather imagine it myself. I'd rather just read the text. I'd rather just stare into the void.

you've got to click around on this map, and the graphics here ... it's astounding. @haidee.bsky.social did such a great job with this:
Explore How Different New Yorkers Voted for Mayor
See how voters turned out for Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa in every neighborhood in the city — and by income, housing and transit preference.

Every day, another piece of nauseating news hits my gut in a way I thought I’d become immune to, reminding me that the decline towards fascism takes place through the actions, not just of the fascists themselves, but of weak humans who choose short term self-preservation over courage and conviction.
Back in 2020, YouTube suspended OAN's channel, demonetized it, and noted it was not an "authoritative" source.

Now, five years later, the Google-owned platform has inked a deal to put the MAGA propaganda network in millions of living rooms.

Google once declared OAN too toxic for its platform—now Sundar Pichai and Neal Mohan are breathing new life into the conspiracy network as they negotiate a high-stakes agreement with Rupert Murdoch's ...

I don't say this lightly: The New York Times should fire the reporter and editor who chose to present a leak from the white house as if it was a leak from Harvard.

Don't print lies in the newspaper
Important details from this story:

1) Yet another news-break by student journalists (this time @theharvardcrimson.bsky.social) www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

2) Harvard saying "see you in court," not "let's make a deal."

3) Per Garber, WH/MAGA leaked news of a "deal." NYT then ran with it.

I do not care that you are not “surprised.” Please. You have no idea how tiresome it is when you post that something horrible, fascist, authoritarian is “not surprising.” Nothing is “surprising” anymore. But a lot of it is horrible and frightening. Let’s deal with it together.

Aside from all the wildly illegal & unconstitutional things that DOGE/Musk are doing, they're doing the "run the government like a business" thing wrong, bc they're literally the last "business" people you'd want anywhere near a Costco-style business. They aren't interested in boring competence.

Costco does large-scale, low-cost, high-quality delivery of boring, widely-used goods & services to the general public. It doesn't "disrupt" or "innovate" or "move fast & break things" or "revolutionize X" because that's not what is needed at that scale on an everyday basis. It's the anti-Musk/SV.
