This is how close the Space X launch pad is to Boca Chica State Park (the beach) - and demonstrates how close you can get. Last night’s explosion had to have absolutely decimated this area.

Somebody gets it. As someone who makes their living making “art” I’m sure that most folks have no idea how it works or why. And these days it’s getting increasingly hard for me to see that as well, but this is a timely reminder.

Talking with a friend today about his life and we both were sorry we hadn't been out to the Big Bend area for a while. It might be time to head out again there soon.

Nothing says healthy intellectual atmosphere like doing away with academic departments you don’t like, eliminating tenure and listening to Christopher Rufo as a guide. The bullshit being pumped here is ridiculous. Do better, UT.

Prescribed burn, Mad Island WMA near Matagorda, TX. Done fairly regularly for habitat maintenance/health. It's a really marshy area and done in a managed way, so little danger of spread. Area comes back very quickly - we saw areas that had been burned last week and already grass was coming back.
