Delighted to share as Lead Member for Housing that Sutton Council and Sutton Housing Partnership have been graded C1 by the Regulator of Social Housing! This is the highest grade possible 😍 while we’ve always got more to do this is a real show of confidence in the team! www.gov.uk/government/p...

Absolutely colossal night of success for the Lib Dems.

In the 10 byelections, the LDs have gained from the CONs, GRNs, INDs and LAB, with a narrow loss to REF by 31 votes in Babergh.

Scoreboard: LD 7, REF 1, CON 1, IND 1.

I assume the media will cover this as breathlessly as every opinion poll?

BOOOM! Lisa is going to be a fantastic councillor for Carshalton South with an emphatic majority even despite the Tories throwing everything at it. Twice now residents in Sutton Borough have backed our record of action and promise of more. Next year everyone has the chance to

To summarise the budget, up now is Leader of the Council Cllr Barry Lewis.

He highlights that the funding system for Local Govt is deeply broken and unfair.

The Liberal Democrats will always fight for a fair deal for Sutton to keep building a bright future.

I had hoped colleagues would engage in the cross party consensus to tackle this problem we’ve seen in committee. It seems, sadly, that I’ll be disappointed by the Conservatives even as they haven’t bothered to put forward an alternative
Now up is Cllr Jake Short, Chair of Housing, Economy and Business.

He highlights that our budget helps us deal with the urgent crisis in temporary accommodation.

It delivers a clear strategy to tackle the lack of move-on accommodation.

At tonight's full council meeting, we are presenting a fair and balanced budget for everyone in Sutton.

It's a budget that reflects how hard we fight, especially in these difficult times, for our borough's future.

Very good session of the LGA Safer Communities Board yesterday. On resilience, I pushed for a recognition that ‘climate emergency’ and ‘emergency planning’ are becoming one and the same. Also had good sessions with the food standards agency.

It was fantastic to join the Friends of Wrythe Rec for their monthly litter pick in the park last weekend! The Rec now has new inclusive play equipment, a new noticeboard and bulbs.

Every park in Carshalton Central has inclusive play equipment and a friends group to help look after our parks.

Today on Trans Day of Remembrance we remember those who have lost their lives to transphobic violence, and reflect on how we as a society can end this loss of life.

Had a fantastic time on a panel at London Lib Dem conference this afternoon talking about the council house building Sutton Lib Dems are doing! It was great to be on a panel alongside colleagues from Kingston and Richmond.
