Disagree. This is to a whole new level. The US at previous COPs pushed for action that they wanted (as every country does). This is the US govt threatening countries very implicitly (and in some case explicitly) to not support this. Very, very different.

Deep-sea mining must be paused until its environmental, sociocultural, and economic risks are understood and alternatives like recycling are explored. We must reduce demand for new mining.
