Been cooking this up w Nicholas McCarthy: 6 part audio doc tracking down the director of one of the strangest lost films ever made, and the battle to save it from - and for - the director himself. This story goes to a lot of surprising, intense places.

The no.1 mistake the del Toro press does ramping up to the release of a huge gothic movie is announcing it's NOT A HORROR MOVIE. Crimson Peak is a fucking masterpiece. But they did this shit. Now I see Issac and that Kissing Boother saying the same shit? Don't we want people to watch this thing?

I’ve had an ongoing conversation with @paulandstorm.bsky.social (among others) about how hard it is to write a song that has to be a hit “in-universe.” That is, it has to be so good the characters/listeners react in the way the story needs them to.

WEAPONS is as good as movie-going gets. I haven’t felt that kind of energy in a theater full of people in awhile. Highest recommendation.

The problem with most media being woke (because most creators realize a diverse cast of characters through empathy) is that all the right had available to relate to was news which became hard-line propaganda so they had no access to other information… bad news.
