2025 was brutal for games media, but I'm seeing some glimmers of hope as worker-owned sites like @aftermath.site, @rascal.news, and @giantbomb.bsky.social have carved out vital spaces in the games community.

Earlier this year, I made a huge Indie Games Media starter pack for y'all. Let's celebrate.

Philip Rivers making a comeback to save the Colts wasn’t in my bingo card this year, but I love seeing this old man get back to work. You get to retire when the rest of us do, 67!

The Trump administration used a picture of Halo’s Master Chief to call for the destruction of immigrants. Something about seeing the stalwart hero of a beloved video game twisted into an anti-immigrant super soldier hit people pretty hard.

thank you to @mikesenters.bsky.social for being so succinct and clear about why this latest wave of Trump branded Halo memes feels so horrifying

Can’t (can) believe that our president posted an AI generated video of him flying a fighter jet with “King Trump” on it and dumping shit onto NYC No Kings protestors. Truly amazing that anyone would support a literal child.

Every week I’m reluctant to say the Colts have a chance at getting to the Super Bowl this year, but idk, I think we might have it.

I sometimes read old gaming magazines and stumbled upon this "babe of the year" section from Playstation: The Official Magazine.

If I was the editor I would have gently suggested this writer be put down like a rabid dog

When will people learn that you need to secure the score before you start making a big show? Mitchell royally screwed the Colts right there.

deeply disappointed in @nbcnews.com's
tone re: the kirk assassination, they are going so far out of their way to portray him as an even-handed champion of fair debate and not a white supremacist who said this shit constantly

In the wake of Charlie Kirk's shooting, the right declared war on the left without any evidence the left was even involved. Today, multiple threats at historically black colleges/universities and at the DNC in D.C. Tell me about the inflammatory rhetoric causing violence, please.

And I've obviously been saying this a lot lately, but BDS does not expect anyone to drop everything made by Microsoft all at once. They pick very specific targets in order to get as wide a coalition as possible, and in the case of Xbox, even suggest different tiers of engagement.

It's a direct line. First, Microsoft's Azure enabled the mass surveillance of a civilian population living in apartheid conditions on the West bank. Then, that same technology was deployed in Gaza to support airstrikes into "densely populated" civillian areas.

So please, do not move forward as normal. This isn't normal.

It's imperative to put pressure on Microsoft to end this. Whether that's by canceling Game Pass, refusing to cover their games with your normal cadence on your platforms, or to pressure them internally as employees.

Now is the time.

I know a lot of you have already heard or read about BDS Movement's call against Microsoft, and felt weird and bad about it all, but decided to move forward as normal because of some degree of ambiguity.

"What service is Microsoft providing?"

Here it is, clear as day. A direct line to death.

The fact that some healthcare providers are now utilizing AI chatbots to help diagnose patients or even as an AI nursing assistant for taking notes is insane and it should be legally required to disclaim the use of AI before all appointments. Either that or completely restricted the usage.

I have to drive an hour and half to my home state in order to see a dermatologist that is covered by my work’s health insurance. Working remote in different state is great. US healthcare is great.

I will also be leaving Waypoint. I have a couple obligations to PR folks I want to fulfill. After that, I'm done.

I can't sit back and watch Savage Ventures silence Ana and stifle actual journalism out of fear of being "too controversial".
VICE's owner Savage Ventures has requested the removal of my Collective Shout articles. This is due to concerns about the controversial subject matter—not journalistic complaints

Effective immediately, I will no longer contribute to Waypoint. I suggest letting VICE's owner know if this upsets you

What is Xbox? It’s not a console. It’s not a handheld. It’s not Master Chief or Gears O’war. It’s the smell of a new car. It’s the laughter of a child on their seventh birthday. It’s the tender embrace of a lover on a warm June evening. The Xbox is freedom, gentlemen. Pure and simple.
