Pay has not kept up with inflation. People are poorer.
Folk need to stop pretending like people have as much money as they did in the 90s. Rent costs, house prices are astronomical.
It's not Nintendo's fault, but people are right to be upset their hobby is pricing them out.

You can't "separate the art from the artist" if you're purchasing concert tickets or buying merch. I don't personally think you should do so at all, but once you're financially supporting them you're supporting the artist not the art. Art doesn't need money, artists do.
