Does China have a compute surplus or shortage? Another interesting article flagged by @emergingtechobs.bsky.social describes the complex picture as “short-term sufficiency, long-term shortage” and includes a list of local government compute projects.

Particularly interesting report in light of the on-going anti-trust activities.

Some of this M&A activity in part reminds me of what happened in past decades as the defense industrial base concentrated down via M&A to a modest set of very large prime contractors.
