I don't think it's cowardice. I think that they are OK with what the GOP is doing. The sooner folks reconcile with this, the better.

not surprising dems are clinging to the filibuster. without it voters might expect them to do the things they always pretend they want to do. so the filibuster has to stay.

this is excellent three-dimensional chess. every good politician knows that the average person loves it when you openly care more about senate procedure than their lives.

wise choice for the bbc to cave to bad faith hysteria from trump et al — as we know in the united states, once you do that, they're definitely satisfied forever and nothing ever happens to you again
Bulletin: BBC director general Tim Davie and BBC News CEO Deborah Turness are resigning "following criticism that a BBC Panorama documentary misled viewers by editing a speech by US President Donald Trump."

Great @gbbranstetter.bsky.social read on how throwing trans people under the bus is not a winning political strategy and in fact the opposite is true. Democrats have an opportunity here to not be craven cowards succumbing to transphobic messaging.
Democrats Can’t Blame Trans People for Their Own Failures
Despite the attempts by so many in the party's establishment to paint trans rights as a toxic issue, transphobia was soundly rejected across the country this week.

Today in @thenation.com: thrilled to have @gbbranstetter.bsky.social on how this week's elections should bury once and for all the toxic myth that trans people are to blame for the Democratic Party's political failures www.thenation.com/article/poli...

also as @liesandperfidy.bsky.social rightly points out, the final graf of this section—"lucky for zohran the dead guy's family was also brown and muslim!"—is extremely gross
a telling part of the nyt take on zohran's win: the insistence that a cop's killing was a "disaster" for his campaign. there has never been any real evidence to support this! but the nyt has a narrative and it refuses to budge. there will be lots more of this to come www.nytimes.com/2025/11/04/n...

sliwa would obviously have been a shitty mayor but he conducted himself with more class and integrity than cuomo for the entirety of the campaign
Zohran Mamdani says on NY1 he didn't get a congratulatory call from either Andrew Cuomo or Eric Adams last night.

He says he got a congratulatory call from Curtis Sliwa, though.
