The pandemic (and my dad) taught me that I’ll never make good bread.
Here is one of the most popular recipes The Times has ever published. It requires no kneading and uses no special ingredients, equipment or techniques. And it takes very little effort — only time.

The City will break even at best in 28 years from their investment, city services and jobs are in danger of more cuts, and the initial proposal has no guarantees of cost overruns. Oh and it could delay Palisades recover and transportation projects. How is this the right project at this time?

It’s total insanity that LAPD/LASD can dictate when to shut down service. They left riders stranded unexpectedly for days. laist.com/news/transpo...
Metro to update protocols for closing stations after passengers were left 'stranded' during protests
“ I heard people were walking miles to try to get out, and these were people that were dispersing because they were ordered to disperse,” Metro board chair and L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn said.

Meanwhile, there’s still several hundred civilian employees who could be laid off.
The LAPD says they need more $$$ in order to cover overtime to respond to the protests, according to this city report.

LA city's response has so far cost $19.7 million. The LAPD costs make up nearly $17M, of which $11.7M is police OT, which the LAPD says it needs more funds to cover.

Because Black people know that there is no such thing as “identification” or “identifying yourself”. They aren’t saying Padilla didn’t identify himself as a U.S. Senator. They are saying that there is only one acceptable identity — credential — being white and, in these times, being pro-Trump.

LAPD and the Sheriffs started blocking transit stops well before this “curfew.” Why did LA Metro shut down transit service and leave people stranded?!
June 11, 2025 at 4:29 AM
LA is not under siege by “anarchists.” People are peacefully protesting and law enforcement is escalating, instigating. The Feds and local law enforcement are using people rising up as an excuse to be aggressive. Get it right, y’all. Abolish ICE.

And the large masses of Americans that are racist/xenophobic also has zero clue how broken our immigration system is. There is no “right” way.
It is hard to grasp but large masses of Americans are both racist/xenophobic AND not racist/xenophobic enough to applaud what Trump is doing. It's goldilocks shit, they want a level of racism/xenophobia calibrated exactly to their personal preferences, and you just can't make that policy. Don't try.

Given the literal definition of deportation is removing a foreigner or noncitizen from the country, we - journalists, media orgs - should probably all stop referring to the ‘deportation’ of a 2 year old US citizen. It’s NOT a deportation.

I’m not sure what it is. A kidnapping?
