Teachers in USA are offended to be called just "Teacher." But why? Doctors aren't offended to be called "Doctor."
In Asia, people called me "Teacher!" They had the same reverence for a teacher that an American has for a doctor.
Being a teacher is important, and we should be proud, not offended!

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Americans around the country join together in service in honor of the life and the light of Dr. King.
We know that we stand on his shoulders and through acts of service, we put his teachings into action as we march on together.
