It rains so seldom in Southern California that, when it starts, I sit in my spot confused for a good 10 minutes wondering what the sound is. And then it is the BEST SOUND! ❤️☔️🥰

For people who used to follow my rejections blog, my work has been declined many times lately, but I’ve also had a couple really flattering solicitations and, today, my first personalized, encouraging rejection from The New Yorker. Keep going. Let failure be a success, too.

There might come a day when I don’t buy every one of my former student’s books, but it’s hard for me to imagine that day. Such a lovely, contemplative, transitional chapbook. Pure Olga. ❤️

So fun to review this one for the @nytimes.com. Very quick, gory read already set to be a movie with Margaret Qualley. Thank you to Lauren Christensen for the opportunity!

Happy New Year! Earlier this month I set an intention of holding a snake in 2025. This weekend, a friend bought me a handful of snakes to support this goal. And then I found out that, here we are, in the Year of the Snake. Hoping all of this means good luck is on the way. ❤️🐍

Something new about me in 2025 is that you can often hear me emitting a barely audible death rattle as I attempt to process the bullshit. If you hear this noise, it’s most appreciated if you remind me to breathe.

At first I was like, “oh good, I was never good at Twitter so now I get a fresh start to make an attempt with Blue Sky.” But then I realized I’m still just bad at it, so I’ll continue to lurk on others and post very little. ❤️

See you at the Book Catapult tomorrow! I’m reading part of a story that features a person getting a massage at Kobey’s Swap Meet!!! I may decide it’s terrible later and abandon it but for now you can delight in my misguided errors!
