Second, this generates a huge & increasing drain. A drain of money, but also of time, control, and trust.

It's like a bubble -- and if it bursts, the trust in the publication system will be gone.

🧠Injecting SARS-CoV-2 spike protein RBD into the brains of mice caused depressive behavior by lowering astrocyte Cx43 and disrupting gap-junction communication.

Treating the mice with Celecoxib or restoring Cx43 levels reversed these effects. buff.ly/Q2RHx3h

On Transgender Day of Remembrance, California mourns and honors all the trans and gender non-conforming people taken from us by violence and discrimination.

In California, hate is never tolerated. We will always defend the freedom, equality, and dignity of all people.

This land return and tule elk reintroduction is a significant milestone in California's relationship with the Tule River Indian Tribe.

We're taking critical steps to confront the historical wrongs committed by the state against the Native people of this land.

Today, I happened on a very nice summary of how to avoid such biases in letters of recommendation, which provides an comprehensive outline. Check it out

Attacks on trans rights are often framed as efforts to "protect women."

But the reality is that such attacks only protect the patriarchy. Because enforcing a strict sex-based gender binary makes it easier to tilt that binary into a hierarchy where women are subordinate to men.

1. Yesterday, the press gave Gavin Newsom favorable coverage for signing pro-LGBTQ+ bills.

Little noticed, however, was that he vetoed one of the most important ones: a bill allowing trans people 12 month HRT stockpiles, protecting them from federal threats.
