A great win, with national implications. At last, councils will have to take into account the cumulative effects of livestock factories on river catchments.
It's all about increments of excrement.

Elon Musk has discovered that the US government does not spend taxpayers' money - because there is no such thing. Instead it creates all the money it spends out of thin air, on a computer keyboard. He's just found modern monetary theory. www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/03...

What a great idea. As World Book Day becomes more about selling clothes than books, how great it is that the library does *both*. Well done Orkney.
It's #WorldBookDay tomorrow (Thursday 6th March) so don't forget that if you need any last minute dressing up clothes we've loads on the rails at Orkney Library and they're all FREE. Just take what you need and returning whenever you want. 📚

This is the right move. For so many reasons:

A tiny tax on people who will barely notice - £24bn a year to help fund Ukraine and keep up foreign aid - and so much more that’s crying out to be done right here in Britain.

All without putting any more on the shoulders of working people

Thread for those new to BlueSky. First of all, welcome. It feels like a safer space, doesn’t it? But also perhaps a bit disorienting initially? Here’s some tips for getting your bearings.
