The meme went so viral that the character’s English voice actor made the image her profile picture on twitter.

This is perhaps the worst way to describe a woman I’ve ever read

I forgot to add my red side-shave moment from 2022. This happened too

Partial shave is a tremendous bitch to grow out and I do not recommend it

Also, in summer 2022 my skin looked nicer than it literally ever did before and ever has since, and I have no idea why. Rip 2022 skin, I miss you

The bottom is my process growing out a pixie from April 2024 to November 2025, I think that’s some pretty damn good growth???

I wish I could give you all an update on this but it’s been like 200 pages since this character last came up. This book has like 7 main characters and it’s a bit Too many I fear

The GOOD news is that if you’re willing to view it as a “I get it, they want to work with who they know” thing instead of a “I HAD A BAD AUDITION, THEY HATE ME, I’M NOT TALENTED ENOUGH TO WORK WITH THEM” thing, it ALSO allows you to let it go and move on a little easier. I think it does, anyway

It’s just that every now and then the risk does NOT pay off. (I’ve also been the person who gets parts as a Director’s Friend, and, well, sorry!)
November 13, 2025 at 10:04 PM
I’ve been the person who loses parts to Director’s Friends and it sucks. I’m definitely not saying it doesn’t suck, and I’m definitely not arguing that it doesn’t come with drawbacks. The risk of casting new people pays off just like the risk of working with new directors pays off.

…I 💯 get why a director, when faced with the choice of Someone New who auditioned very well but they don’t know at all, versus Their Friend who also auditioned very well and they KNOW they’re not a nightmare to work with, might just pick their friend!
November 13, 2025 at 10:04 PM
*and worth noting that this is DEEPLY SUBJECTIVE, my idea of a Nightmare Director is not necessarily everyone else’s idea, and that’s a good thing.

So if I as an actor sometimes think to myself “I don’t know that I want to take a chance on a process with a director/team I might not like”…
November 13, 2025 at 10:04 PM
As an ACTOR, I look at certain processes being helmed by certain people or at certain companies and I go… eesh, I don’t want to commit myself to that. I don’t want to work with people who I think might make the process more challenging or frustrating than it has to be.

In reality I’m lying awake because of The Horrors (and a Yerba Mate drank too late in the evening) but I’ll just tell myself it’s because of this silly little anecdote about my boss and hope me giggling about it lulls me to sleep better than thinking about 👈👇👆👉 all of that

I thought searching obituaries was a weird move but they give you SO much info!! A+ stalker material

My understanding is Shakespeare in the Park being called “free” is pretty generous— only a small number of free seats, lots of restrictions, whatever

But Sandra Oh and Peter Dinklage!!!

Yeah like, Ken I see your angle, but idk if it’s a Winning angle for an old white author to take!

Coupled with multiple mentions of this character being “”a simple man”” it just all went downhill so quickly
