I tend to think a boiler cost being around £1.5k but twice that seems to be considered normal. Odd given the boiler itself can be well under £1k to buy and most plumbers take about a day to install.

After we had sent deposit but before the install the grant went up by £2.5k. This was passed on to us so our total would have been £3k.
Suspiciously close to what it’s costing you. Read what you like into that.

We got ‘lucky’ and perhaps fell into a period where there was too little demand or something but our total install cost just £500 with Octopus. Big system too. New boiler install is about £3-£4k so that may also be setting the price?

Do you already have a water tank?
Ours took a team of 2-4 men all week to fit. It included water tank and 10 radiators. I’m sure you are right about the grant pushing up costs but it’s not a quick and cheap install.

There is also anger and defensiveness caused by the alignment of his far right base with Israel. This plays less well to the current form of right wing extremism and a conversation he’d rather not be having.

Last week I watched an HGV slow roll over 2 of them along the cycleway to drop off gravel for cable works. The grab arm would reach across but somehow this action is seen as better than staying on the road with a short delay for passing drivers.

Fair enough but there’s nothing in the clip you attached to indicate anything special about the road design.

One-way does encourage faster driving though.

…and the slow economy is due to Brexit. Join the dots.

How would a car delivery help in this instance?

I was marvelling at the audacity of the parking along there only a few days ago.

There is no tax on airline fuel so we effectively ‘subsidise’ air travel whilst you will pay 20% vat on a new bicycle. Subsidising stuff is everywhere.
November 13, 2025 at 6:10 PM
Subsidy is a crude but effective way for governments to change behaviour so yes HP should be subsidised, at least until the cost of electricity isn’t set by gas prices so HP users aren’t ’subsidising’ gas boiler users.

Yep. You should watch Bourne Identity. It’s good.

Since 1997 it was a Tory council under Tory government so they had good reason to hide the issues. Kent gets what it votes for.
