Advanced Paramedic working in primary care in the UK. Frailty, cardiology, general practice, photography.
Yet Vance had the nerve to claim the UK and Europe didn’t have free speech.
Rep. Randy Fine: "We should not be bringing people into America to get an education who hate us. They should be coming here to get an education, and frankly they should keep their mouths shut beyond that."

Aha, here we are Archers Fans. What offence can the protestors be charged with? Public Order Act 1986 makes it an offence to interfere with goods or threaten or claim to do so with the intent to cause harm. Up to ten years inside #TheArchers

So basically Trump’s looked at Liz Truss and said “hold my beer, I can crash my own economy and everyone else’s!” But unlike Truss there’s no quick way to remove him and no brake on his powers

Starmer’s position that we shouldn’t retaliate on tariffs because we’re negotiating a trade deal looks rather weak now. If Trump was serious about a deal being agreed soon, why would he have stuck tariffs on the UK?

Least we can laugh about the tariffs on penguins though.

Deeply strange entering middle-age at a time in world history where things are getting measurably worse. Just a continual psychic struggle of “is this fogeyism or are things just not what they used to be?”

Random thought - why has no one linked the sewage flood to the water quality in the Am? It made Joy very unwell after the crash? #TheArchers

Watching the “get checked for cancer” adverts. Love how the NHS comms team seem to think GPs sit in some sort of futuristic looking clinic room with CT images up in the screen to show the patient. Not inspiring confidence that the centre have an understanding of primary care.

A hidden cost to patients is that these shortages consume significant time every day in pharmacies and GP practices, as we try and work out what’s available and what’s not this week.

Didn’t know this either! Interesting, and have passed on to work colleagues
I did not know this. Liquorice is very high in iron - I've even seen it listed on an NHS trust's page about foods which are good sources of iron - so might be attractive to those worried about their intake (including veggies and vegans). But it could be a health hazard.....
As a good suggestion from @deevybee.bsky.social I have decided to post my infamous liquorice thread from X a few years ago to here. This is valuable knowledge if you or anyone you know has high blood pressure and likes a bit of liquorice. The stuff might kill you.

Why is Trump so obsessed with mineral resources? That seems to be the motivation linking Canada, Greenland and Ukraine. Is this Musk’s influence or genuine geopolitical concerns?

When did Eddie go from lovable rogue to a really quite unpleasant man? His bullying of Brad was horrible to hear and his behaviour over George’s arrest was equally bad #TheArchers

Why did Helen have a meeting with “her” accountant? Doesn’t the farm all use the same accountant? #TheArchers

What’s happened to bananas? Tesco have shortages. Just them or do we have a bananas shortage? Can’t even stock up like toilet roll!

Rubio looks incredibly uncomfortable. And Vance is obviously taking “how to wear a tie” advice from Trump. Red tie worn really long is the MAGA way.
GLENN: Why don't you wear a suit? You're at the highest level in this country's office & you refuse to wear a suit. A lot of Americans have problems with you not respecting the office.

ZELENSKYY: I will wear a costume after this war will finish. Maybe something like yours. Maybe something better.

If Fallon hasn’t had a day off in over a month, surely her employers are in breach of the Working Time Directive? Sounds like Jolene and Kenton are exploiting their daughter. #TheArchers

“This morning I had another talk with the German Chancellor, Herr Hitler, and here is the paper which bears his name upon it as well as mine…”
As the US sits around the table with Lavrov (sanctioned by the Biden) the Russian attacks on civilians in Kyiv haven’t stopped. The Trump administration didn’t even get a cessation in drone attacks in exchange for the PR coup of talks and bringing the regime in from the cold.

Surely Bridge Farm can’t sell any of the cheese? If the lower shelves were “marinating in sewage” then the upper shelves must be contaminated as well? #TheArchers

What is it with the “theme weeks”? I don’t recall this being an Archers “feature” before. They are all poorly written and shoehorned into the normal storylines. I thought scam week was bad but “real life panto week” is even worse #TheArchers

Disgraceful from the Scottish opposition.
Apparently Jackie Baillie (Labour) had accused the Scottish Government of deploying “Frailty Teams” as “bouncers” at the front door as they offer multidisciplinary assessments & alternatives to admission in A&E for older people.

I think Joy is projecting how Rochelle should feel about her children, and trying to create some perfect relationship. Maybe she needs to accept Rochelle doesn’t really want kids (an absent father is much more acceptable than an absent mother) #TheArchers

Interesting and unexpected! Does it depend on the type of anti hypertensive I wonder? And what of patients with treated blood pressures at lower levels or with adverse effects of treatment (such as postal drop)?
This years @gerisoc.bsky.social Dhole-Eddlestone prize went to a paper on deprescribing BP meds for people with dementia in care homes. Really interesting study with unexpected results!

Are rewilding and beavers the biggest topics in farming communities at the moment? Seems to be a massive investment of time in this storyline which is not very dramatic and a bit silly in places (meeting with Neo) #TheArchers
