In retrospect, I should have put this at the beginning, but I do not support the Latine people or any people who voted for trump. This thread not in their defense. The thesis of this thread is to show how division is sowed and that division is the tool of the oppressor.

(6) There is a clear pattern of Black Americans being treated as if they didn’t have agency. These narratives are not coming from within the community. It’s usually the press/white owned media that’s fanning the flames. The reason these narratives pop up is to hide the fact that oppressions are tied

(5) Finally, this “Black Americans vs <insert group>” has continuously been used to isolate the Black community from any other community so that the oppressors can divide and conquer. It was “Black Americans vs Asians” then “Black Americans vs Africans” then “Black Americans vs Palestinians”… (5)

(4) The vast majority of Latine people live in central and South America, and have no sway on American politics as well as having their own local political issues. But they are still affected by anti-Latin discrimination (including Black Latin people) whether they live in America or not. (4)

(3) While instead the issue that this title is abstracting is much larger and much more nuanced. Latine Voters don’t represent all of Latin America, in fact, they are in the minority (there are much more Latine people in the Latin population who didn’t vote, because they aren’t Americans!) (3)

(2) This feels like a psyop because it is boiling down the very real existence anti-Latine discrimination and racism into a culture war between “Latin[e] voters” and Black Americans (I say “culture war” because the affects this language will be more present online; ‘Twitter fingers…’ and all). (2)

The frustrating thing about it is that it’s so commonly used as a deflection because the person lack the emotional regulation/self awareness/honesty to face a topic head on without pointing to something else 😮‍💨
