Marvel. It’s easier to write stakes and grounded stories when your characters aren’t all overpowered in some way. Also better power scaling when the starting isn’t “faster than light”

Tinker. Much of our modern tech is simplistic (phones with built in batteries, chromebooks/Macs that feel immutable); everything is now one swipe or tap away. Older tech was much more modular and customizable, so we learned to take things apart and mess with settings.
