Is This Human?

No. Shallow burial base, with no nearby bones and the location (sheep farm), makes identification easier.

Always assess the context as well as the direct evidence.

Is This Human?

No. From the size and shape, this has been taken from food refuse. Lock up bins.

Findings on grass are more common than you think. Foxes and rats will strip the bone of flesh, then abandon when satiated.

Is This Human?

No. This is almost-certainly bone, but not from a human.

There are clear shapes identifiable on a human skeleton, and without any abrasions or fractures, this bone end looks complete.

Is This Human?

No. Many birch branches have a mottled coating akin to what one might imagine is bone. Added to that, the bark of silver birch is filled with oil, which acts as a preservative.

Is This Human?

No. Although it is bone, you can see the socket joint is far too circular to be human, and for it to be an eye socket, it would need the surrounding bone to be flatter.

What do you think it is?
