It is curious that Mediterranean rabbits have monoxenous ticks like Rhipicephalus pusillus (right), Haemaphysalis hispanica (left) or Ixodes ventalloi. Probably consequences of relict endemism in last glaciation refugia (picture by Carlos Pradera)

When did insects first show up in art? The earliest example was carved into a bison bone dated to 15,000 years ago (!) found in the Cave of the Trois-Frères in France. It shows a cave cricket which probably represents Troglophilus, a genus not found in the region in the present day. 🦗🎨 #bugsky
