if i have a friend over and we're talking in the living room, Dolly will hide in the closet (unless she knows you already). but if i'm alone and talking (phone, zoom, work call) she always wants to come over and snuggle and be involved. it's extremely endearing.

show us the last four albums you listened to (in my case, not counting the ones on my daily listening list for September or October, since that's boring)

May 11: araabMUZIK - Electronic Dream 2 (2012)

Like the first, keeps things nice and concise; manages to expand the territory some but still scratch the same itch as its predecessor. Kind of not surprised these didn't really catch on, but I like them.

May 1 - Russ Abbot - I Love a Party (1985)

"Atmosphere" in the PPP and a "just trust me bro" comment on Discogs got me to check this out; a MESS! Covers are mostly horrible but then it hits KC and the Sunshine Band's "Give It Up" and you can see how it might have worked with better choices.

Mar 21: Frank Sinatra - Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim (1967)

You know, I think this Frank kid might have a future in the business. More seriously, I do want to hear more of his stuff. The intense focus on vocal interpretation (compared to most of my listening) is fascinating.

Mar 20: The Left Banke - Walk Away Renée/Pretty Ballerina (1967)

The title made me worried this would be one of those old LPs that's dreck except the 'hits,' but no it's all pretty solid ("What Do You Know" excepted). At one point I had a real "oh right, samples come from somewhere" moment.

Mar 9 - Dorothy Ashby – The Fantastic Jazz Harp of Dorothy Ashby (1965)

My friend Rachel put "Essence of Sapphire" on a post-surgery mix for me and I loved it enough to track this down. That's still the standout, but this was both fun and exceptionally pleasant.
