A M6.5 earthquake struck near Acapulco, Mexico today, triggering warning systems and causing tall buildings in Mexico City to sway. How does this event fit into the larger tectonic picture - and what kinds of earthquakes might we expect here?

A swarm of earthquakes has been rattling the Bay Area since mid-November. This is only the latest of various swarms over the last half-century. What’s going on with this swarm, and how does it compare?

THIS! tbh i really hope Indonesia govt becomes a bit more aware like pls expand the seismograph network and start developing underwater system too (like the ones Japan has). like just in this past few weeks, there have been a lot strong eqs in coastal areas off northern sumatera & southern jogja 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨
I really really wish everyone in the subduction zone around the world has this. It is the best thing that Japan has developed in the past decades.

The underwater seismometer network is so great, as evidenced from yesterday's EQ off-Tohoku.
