I won five grand for a poem once. Always felt faintly second-fiddley to the prose comps, though if you cost it per word... but nobody factors in pencil-chewing time.

Well exactly. You can imagine the court cases though. "This housewife stupidly left for work, expecting a delicious meal, and although that is exactly what we market this item for, we did put that line in our instructions so can't be liable for anything that happened when the house burned down."

I think in the end she glue-gunned it onto an old hat cover, and put tin foil between the hat and the cover in case the glue soaked through and damaged the hat. Plus she had to cut the wig a bit to fit over the hat. Apparently it was worth it because first prize.
