Am waiting for a tech visit. Only 45 mins into the 4 hour window and am already running out of time-fill tasks. Anyone need me to do their filing or wash dishes?

TIL how to spell 'rhinoceros'. I've been spelling it 'rhinocerous' all this time because of the rhinocerous/preposterous couplet. Now they both look wrong, thanks Redactle.

I'm looking at menus of places for a special dinner, and seeing a whole lot of tallow candles, activated nuts, meat parfaits, and the replacement of 'house-made' with 'bespoke'. Bespoke butter. Sigh.

Is the Foundation tv series good?
(intelligent writing; engaging characters; varied plot threads, plot not overall terribly challenging to follow; good pacing, emotionally varied)
If it helps, I found the books insufferable and boring.

Xibai spent most of #Caturday at the vet having her injured eye inspected. She's happy to be home.
(And the vet ringbarked her, which may foil her plan to evolve into a mountain lion?)

A DVD in the superdrive wouldn't mount or eject. I needed a USB port to connect a mouse for the more annoying solutions, so ejected the external hard drive ... and the DVD ejected as well. What is happening with the ports??

A famous person has died and there's an outpouring of love and grief for them, but I couldn't stand a moment of their professional career and have serious questions about some of their personal choices. Also they had a good innings. Am feeling a great disconnect with the zeitgeist right now.

Dealing with Vitamin B12 situation rendered quite complex by me constantly calling it Vitamin K12. I can SEE the medical people thinking "ruh roh, cognitive decline incoming!"

The chemo and meds side effects fatigue has been joined by vitamin B12 deficiency fatigue. I'm not sure if I want supplements/injections, or to use it as an excuse to just stay in bed forever.

him: ...
me: I get electrocuted on everything I touch!
him: ...
me: you told me there's a device?
him: ...
me: oh god, there is no device, it was a dream
everyone: ahahahaha

you know what, in the spirit of this, just throwing this out there: are there any people who know detailed history of the secularization of the Teutonic Order-State under Albert, Duke of Prussia?

I need it for a half-written fantasy book.
Second, when we say “All knowledge is contained in fandom” what I mean is that I once posted “Hey, does anybody know anything about Eastern European wars in the mid-to-late 1880s?” and three hours later had a historian go “I study the Serbo-Bulgarian war of 1885, can I help?”

Am reading Robert Caro's 'The Power Broker', attempt #5 in 10 years, on page 1,380, 2,000 pages remain.
The rule is I can't read anything else until I've finished! This has sustained me 1,000 pages longer than previous attempts, but I'm flagging.
Murderbot awaits, I need to finish! Suggestions?

Sleep problems now so bad, my Catholic builder recommends asking for divine intervention.

St Blaise - insomnia from physical ailments
St Dymphna - insomnia from mental ailments
