New West, like Kamloops, is a city of hills. I fondly remember burning clutch trying to get up 6th fr Columbia.

Point being that E-mobility devices will dramatically increase equity in active transport - bike/walking paths etc. in ways that it won’t so much in flatter cities/towns. You need it.

...while users see affordability & mobility benefits to E-mobility. If they are displacing car reliance, there are safety & environmental benefits. There are good reasons to support the safe & responsible use of these alternatives in our Cities, especially as we seek a Vision Zero mindset...

Some cities joined the Pilot Project and can adapt local Bylaws to allow E-scooters, BUT have limited to no enforcement resources and there is no concerted effort to educate the public about safe and legal use of the devices. Without that, it remains a wild west, and people are getting hurt...

The province has been dragging its feet on updating the Motor Vehicle Act on safe use and regulation of E-mobility devices. The initial 3-year limited “pilot project” has been extended for another 4 years. We can’t take 7 years to respond to basic safety issues...

absolutely wild with our high levels of ridership. and then they're saying well i don't know what these routes look like (↘️students) so let's not budget for it and get a route review first. omg. so stressful. I hope enough of us in there were pleading with them that at least they won't dismiss it.

at the public meeting, other that Cllr Bepple, they were all saying the province doesn't have money and is unlikely to fund it so why budget for it. or they were saying I haven't made up my mind. so this is not cutting existing hrs but rather not budgeting for the expansion BC Transit committed to.
