Night Mayor, D2.
Portland policy + politics. Blazers, beer + spirits, support the arts.

Since Dan Ryan doesn't like posting on here, may I present his reaction to the Parks levy passing:

"It's unfortunate that turnout in last night's Parks Levy vote was low. However, I'm glad that Portlanders who did vote made their voices clear: Parks are a priority in our community."

I guess I kind of get why car wash owners might oppose bus lanes, but what is Fubonn's problem here with these trimet stations and the combined bus/turn lane on 82nd exactly?

Masked federal agents dressed like they are deploying to Desert Storm abducted someone tonight in Portland after piling out of an unmarked van by the ICE office. This behavior by unidentifiable agents is not unprecedented in our city.

> Today Bird Alliance of Oregon signed on to a letter calling for no military takeover of our city in response to the Trump administration authorizing the deployment of Federal troops to Portland.

A sentence I didn't expect to read in 2025, but here we are.

Hard not to laugh/cry about this bit:
The Mother's Bistro owner and PMC quotes mark a very interesting turnabout for folks who have spent the last 5+ years painting a picture of Portland as a crime-ridden cesspit. Oh, NOW it's about work from home because the stakes are higher? Got it.

OPB could report on how wildly inaccurate this quote is from the likely GOP candidate for Oregon Governor, but nah let's just put together a collage of shitty takes to boost this nonsense, without fact checks, and present it as journalism.

I thought I understood Southwest Washington's obsession with roundabouts but my goddess, this latest plan out of Vancouver is some crazy work.

Enjoying the clean, crisp air in Portland today.
Five years ago, it was a different story.

St John’s Music Festival was fantastic, loved seeing the streets and venues packed out at night. Peter Krebs, The Quick & Easy Boys, Blue Cranes, Buddy Jay's Jamaican Jazz Band all highlights. Kudos to the organizers!

Our Auditor + staff are bad ass. Many of their investigations are initiated by complaints submitted by Portland residents.

Trimet Fare enforcement delaying our bus ride by 15 minutes and writing tickets to the poorest folks on this bus. Thumbs down on this use of public resources @trimet.org
