It’s so cool, isn’t it! We lived nearby when my kid was wee, and it was one of our favorite places that wasn’t a zoo.

Years ago when I stepped in as designer for the game HeroClix I had the opportunity to choose the characters that would make up the next set--and Ambush Bug was the first character I put on the list. (The cover of that figure's paper features a bit of Giffen art that still hangs by my desk today.)

AULDREALM SCROLLS is out, my submission to the Mythic Bastionland Jam, is out! Make your Knights' squires wilder, ride around on strange mounts, and dig through a 25-page toybox of oracles, tools, and inspirations!

In the homestretch on AULDREALM SCROLLS, my Mythic Bastionland jam entry that will collect together my campaign notes and tools. Looks like it will be about 18 pages? Hope to get it out by Wednesday (with a likely 'oh no typos' update sometime in the week after.)

The whole family is out to the movies together for the first time in six years to see the new Naked Gun!

Mythic Bastionland jam starts today! I hope to have my submission AULDREALM SCROLLS done early next week (72 entry oracles are big!) but I wrapped up the cover art today. Wish I could afford to hire a pro, but for a free release you get my best stab at writer-art. I’m pleased with how it came out.

Prep for the Mythic Bastionland jam continues to go well. My outline has more content ideas than I’ll probably be able to write up and lay out in two weeks, and I’ve been working on cover art during writing breaks. Should bring some fun flavor to Knights’ squires, along with a lot more.

First they stopped stocking comics, then they stopped carrying magazines, and now they don’t even sell the news.

Well, if I’m going to drag my campaign notes into something for next month’s Mythic Bastionland jam I’ll need some cover art, so I started roughing that together tonight.

A day where I get to slip away into the mountain foothills and have this be my view from the porch as I do some TTRPG work is pretty perfect.

Oh, me too, which is why the accumulation of them doesn't drive me mad. And lets my anxiety over the unread and unhandled emails in my actual inbox at least feel marginally rational.

Our bedtime reading of the Odyssey has brought Odysseus back to Ithaca and his son, The kid still thinks he’s going to talk and trick the invading suitors into leaving. Boy does she have a surprise ahead…

One of the things that brings me joy is an old book that still has the checkout folder in it. I love seeing the marks left by all the previous journeys down the same path.

I’ve always wondered if the life of Houdini implied the existence of his siblings Watdini, Wendini, Whydini, and the impossible Weredini.

The new issue of KNOCK! is coming out, and check out these amazing adventurers illustrated by @evlynmoreau.bsky.social from the adventure inside the issue's dust jacket. I want to play every single one of these tiny folks. Such a perfect mix of mischief and menace.

Goodnight to Muppetvision 3D, a place that always made me happy and gave me years of laughs, even when they only had a minute and a half.

Dreamed last night of art by @stevelieberart.bsky.social from a story about a time-traveling Jimmy Olsen and GI Robot driving a hoax "Haunted Jeep" so they could get past Sgt. Rock and Easy Company and find the Losers behind enemy lines. Very disappointed to wake up before I could read more.

And when my asphalt roller got stuck in some uphill sand, did I drive my Jeep over a mountain to try and winch it out? Yes. And when that winch wasn't strong enough, did I drive my crane to the slope to attempt recovery? Also yes....though success is still not guaranteed.

Give me a limited amount of any resource and I will anxiously conserve it. So I'm driving my paver in Roadcraft over miles of rough terrain to avoid using my field service vehicle's few teleports to bring it directly to the job site. And then I'll drive the asphalt roller, too. Uphill both ways.

Sad to hear of the passing of Peter David, one of my favorite writers and one who helped teach me how to join the ranks of the professionals. Here's the essay he submitted to Patti Perret's "The Faces of Fantasy", alongside a nearly-nude portrait parodying a similar photo of Stan Lee. (1/ )

I want to steal the opening to James Scott's "Seeing Like a State" and use it to open all of my own work.
