The Trump regime has fired an estimated 70 immigration judges since February. Nearly half previously defended immigrants in court.

Remember: it was never about legal immigration. It was always about cruelty.

Day Log 272 of our journey toward the "Dead Line":

It's been four weeks since the great ship "Motivation" ran aground upon the ice brought in by an all too early seasonal depression front. Moral is low, but supplies hold steady, much to the chagrin of certain crew.

No progress to report today.

ICE agents abducting people off the streets. The National Guard unleashed in American cities. The Justice Department weaponized to prosecute political opponents. Threats by Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act.

The tyranny is on full display — and it's waking America up.

My goal this year was to have the first draft of my novel wrapped up by the end of September. It seemed achievable.

In unrelated news, I hear the end of December is a mighty fine deadline for writing projects.

This morning, I was hit in the face by a baton.

I’m going to have a pretty gnarly bruise but we need to remember why this is happening: Trump and ICE are rounding up our neighbors, treating them as subhuman, and shipping them off to labor camps in foreign countries. It has to end.

Trump claims ICE’s reign of terror in Chicago is targeting the “worst of the worst.”

But out of the 1,000 undocumented immigrants that have swept up, the agency has only cited 10 men with a criminal background.

Don’t believe his lies for a second.

Trump says migrants drive violent crime in Illinois. But ICE can’t find many violent criminals.
Masked ICE agents and other federal forces showed up in Chicago to go after gangsters. Instead, they keep catching people who are just living their lives.

Over 5 million children could lose food assistance — all thanks to the Trump-Republican shutdown.

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

As ICE terrorizes communities, remember that some of Trump's biggest supporters are private prison companies that will make bank off his budget bill.

And Stephen Miller recently disclosed over $100K of stock in Palantir, the shady data firm ICE uses to target immigrants.

Cashing in on cruelty.

Good news: The house is cleaned spotless.

Bad news: The authoritarian slide of America continues apace. Oh and now I need to find a new excuse to procrastinate on writing, that too.

Let us in. Hold ICE accountable. Tear down the fence.

This is what we are demanding from the Broadview ICE facility, and nothing less.

Our leaders can decide whether they stand with the people or with ICE. There is no middle ground.

Hitting another thousand words on this rough draft today is proving quite the challenge.

But, then I think of the poor genocide defenders and the struggle of having to beat their conscience to death every single day. And I realize how good I have it.

Hashtag perspective.

Here's to another creative writing session! Hoping for a thousand terrible but evocative words.

It's on days like today that I like to remember that you don't have to be good at writing, you just have to not be a genocidal nation abducting a freedom flotilla on an aid relief mission. Again.
