He’s deliberately tanking the market. He doesn’t give a sh*t about anyone else but himself and the oligarchy. It’s like a hostile takeover

The public shouldn't be paying profit margins on *any* existential supply or natural monopoly: not water, not energy, not council services, not broadband. The way this country has been carved up and bled, even as people are literally dying from poverty, is obscene.

someone on R4 earlier; the rise in employer NI contributions would have significant impact on Tesco, but they will try their best not to pass on the costs to the customer. Thank you Tesco, we are so very grateful to you. Didn’t realise that a business with a profit of 2.9bn was doing us a favour

So inured are we to looking at day to day life through the lens of business that an item about footfall in shops over Christmas on BBC Breakfast this morning is presented as a concern. Talk of drop in the profits of retailers and impact on high street but no discussion about why

Rather than yet more inquiries into child sexual exploitation, could somebody do a report into the number of recommendations made by the various inquiries already conducted, how many of them have been adopted, and whether performance against them is being monitored.

Still no mention by Guardian of the stealth takeover of the UK by foreign capital setting up shop in Sunak and Starmer's 74 deregulated Special Economic Zones and 12 Freeports.
What an absolute shitshow.

In 50 years it has gone from being normal to expect Governments to provide Energy, Water, Housing and Healthcare.

To being radical or even more commonly ridiculous.

We have Governments that provide nothing.

What is the point of them?
