In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

This trip I realized that the quality I like about NYC compared to SF is that NY vehicles follow traffic rules. It creates a sense of civility and order that San Francisco lacks.
