🚨 The inevitable AI crash will, as ever, be paid for by working people losing their jobs and by their pensions and investments tanking. The tech-bro overlords who created this mess will be just fine... #IgnoreAI #DeleteCoPilot

📢 In the not-too-distant future, the UK is going to be desperately competing with other major developed economies for younger immigrants to prop up our failing, sclerotic economy and society. Hardly any UK politicians seem to grasp this, let alone make the case for a liberal immigration system... 🙄

🤔 We have no interest in rugby but have often thought England should respond to the New Zealand haka with a Morris dance... 🙂

📢 Not introducing a #WealthTax on the UK's richest people in the upcoming budget will be more than just economically stupid. It will be immoral and cowardly. It will confirm that the UK just can't tax the rich. It will be an admission of total defeat, an abject capitulation to the power of money.

📢 THANK YOU for engaging with our #Inequality Graph of the Week series. We've now come to the end of the graphs in the main report of 'The Spirit Level at 15' but there are more graphs and evidence to see in the Technical Appendix for those interested. ♥️

📢 Failing late capitalism's desperate death-rattle, Black Friday, is on Friday 28 November this year.

Let's turn Black Friday into Buy Nothing Day 🙂

Save money and help the planet - what's not to like? 🙂

📢 The UK's decline is due to 40+ years of economic fuckwittery, driven by the #Tories but with the connivance of #Labour. Tax cuts, privatisation, trickledown (that didn't), the City and finance prioritised over the regions and industry, austerity, and the crowning turd in the lilly pond, #Brexit.
November 4, 2025 at 11:56 AM
🚨 It now seems entirely possible that Labour will raise tax on the majority of working people instead of raising tax on the super-rich. Apart from the gross unfairness of it all, how on earth does that work politically? The govt is already hugely unpopular. Why are they so incredibly bad at this?
November 4, 2025 at 9:34 AM
🚨 Your occasional pre-budget reminder that if a govt chooses not to tax the super-rich, it is (by definition) choosing to tax those with far less wealth and income instead. If there is no #WealthTax in the budget, Labour will prove that it really is only the little people who pay taxes. #TaxTheRich

🚨 Wonder if any of the dullards in Downing St. will take heed of this...? 🔽 Not holding our breath...
October 31, 2025 at 2:30 PM
🚨 Today, MPs debated leaving the ECHR. It was a stunt by the idiot Farage but, with Labour initially telling its MPs to abstain, it could've passed 🙄 (how shit is that??). Meanwhile, the official opposition is still considering mass deportations of legally settled people. This is the UK right now. 🤬
October 29, 2025 at 5:23 PM
🚨 This is an excellent and very succinct letter 🔽. The fact that Labour under Starmer will do virtually none of this is both maddening and depressing...

📢 Social democracy needs economic democracy (employee and customer/mutual ownership business models). Without economic democracy, social democracy is only half a theory, one that is far too over-reliant on the state to deliver economic and social progress...
