in the abstract it is unfortunate that Americans identify overwhelmingly as consumers rather than workers, and that Biden got no credit whatsoever for spinning up the best labor market since the 1960s. in practice, with a union movement at death's door, it's hardly surprising

anyway this is some actual salt of the earth wisdom. this is a nation of consumers that fucking HATES it when prices go up regardless of jobs, growth, or anything else. that's just bedrock political reality. I feel it myself if I'm honest
