finished another novel. i won’t name it because i hated it. it made me stop reading altogether because the experience was abysmal and radiated outward. i’m not keeping this one on my bookshelf, or closet, or anywhere in the crib for that matter. big fuckin yikes!!!

This is one of the most profound essays I’ve read in years. You don’t need me to tell you that Hanif Abdurraqib is one of the finest writers of our time, but this essay in particular is a hard-won offering. Please read it and share with people you love.
In Defense of Despair
The feeling is most commonly framed as an end point, a level of despondency that cannot be overcome. But it doesn’t have to be so.

This is what happens when you don't tax rich people, I'm dead serious. You have to keep the money moving in rational ways or it all devolves to hustle
this is a good joke but this also speaks to a truth about 2025 America: the growing, horrible sense among many people that running scams is the only path to basic financial stability

this is, of course, utter poison for human society
Feels like I'm leaving money on the table by not doing a scam or swindle of some kind. Would you guys buy a car for $100,000 if I pretended it can drive itself. What about a fake currency

All of Beyoncé’s albums are *incredible*

With that said I feel the need to name my top 3:

1. Renaissance (like, let’s be serious)

2. 4 (…👀 her eldest daughter’s name..)

3. Homecoming (it’s a compilation… *BUT* it’s !!LIVE!! and every time I listen I remember she was doing that shit IRL…!)

Finished books 7, 8, and 9 this week. Deciding if I want to jump into a collection of essays next or a thick novel

I think a lot of people have mutual aid confused with charity on here, maybe because folks most often see it in the context of fundraiser asks (which are great!).

I want to talk a little about what it looks like in everyday life.

Because we need it more than ever. Government is getting shredded.
