To be fair, the reluctance to make comparisons to Hitler et al was partially motivated by a fear of cheapening it in advance of the real thing coming along.

At least once a day I remember the 2024 presidential election will be held on November 5th and I get a wave of concern for what that day might hold for simply that reason
