I often joke about the fainting couches that used to be mandatory at womens fencing matches (in case your uterus fell out in the middle of a bout) but of course the serious part is that the fainting couch requirement made it totally impractical to offer womens fencing, which was the point all along.
This fucking bullshit.
A lot of the best women's teams in the world have a bunch of women who double up their training by moonlighting on men's teams and often winning.
