You don’t know everything, but it shows you’re willing to learn. If you don’t want to celebrate, fine. But, don’t be dismissive because you don’t understand it.

Juneteenth is a celebration of Black people and Black culture that help build this country and help make it stronger in perpetuity. If you’re not sure how to celebrate it, it’s alright. It’s alright to ask around and look things up. (4/5)

I find it funny how a good amount of people take their continuous victory lap for ending slavery in the United States, yet are dismissive when this holiday is brought up. The holiday saying to slaves in Texas, “I guess you guys didn’t get the memo: slavery’s over.” (2/4)
