If Russia and the US were genuinely willing for NATO states, including the US, to provide an "Art. 5-style" security guarantee they could just suggest that Ukraine joins NATO. They are doing the opposite, which tells us all we need to know.

A review was the cover story for an edition of the once very popular Australian magazine Two Wheels, when I was in high school. I couldn't understand why it mattered (and it didn't, then.) Turns out it was 50 years ahead of its time. 😄
