Four cats in a trenchcoat. Usually thinking about either food or ancestor loss coefficients, as one does.
A year ago vs a month ago. Goose Foot is going to be a father in ~4 weeks!

I can't get over how gorgeous this cat is. (I feel like I'm critical enough of my cats that I'm allowed to say this.) So happy that we managed to save the leg. So happy he's having kittens, even if they're not *my* kittens.

Sometimes when I'm visiting the cats I'm going to use for breeding, I remember their people aren't RB people and tell them their very good girl is beautiful, and SOMETIMES I say the apple of their eye is "better than I expected"

Unrelatedly, this is Goose Foot's sister, who is, actually, v nice*

I broke my very long none books never finish-streak with Heart the Lover which was very predictable but in a pleasant way for about 2/3, and then I just bawled through the last section.

What struck me most about it was how it just whooshed past the most pivotal points of its narrator's life.

Bea's heat started and, as usual, the cat courtship is 100% normal and does not at all make me doubt the survival of the entire species.

Sorry about the picture quality, I feel like I should just have a standard apology (apologies for: November) in the alt.

Throwback caturday: Vilma's parents 10 years ago, a few days before they moved to their forever home.

I think everyone I know expected me to keep the dad instead of Vilma because of his looks. The mom wouldn't have dealt well with Kasper & Emil though, and they were a super bonded pair.

Här i Svenskfinland har vi ju våra egna ödesfrågor.

Should've posted this yesterday because now it's here 😏

Senja (sometimes) knows where she's not welcome

Esme's pressing her head into Isla's flank *so hard* I'm not sure if isn't an attempt to drive her away. IDK, (my) RB girls are just little antisocial weirdos at heart.

"I may not like you or respect you, and in an outright fight I'd definitely beat you, however it is fall, the heaters never turn on anymore*, Vilma has disappeared**, and at least you're not Senja 🤷"

There was a time when I bought books based on the aesthetic appeal of the cover, with pretty decent luck. But now it seems that either my taste has diverged from that of book designers, or the times are just too dire for, you know, anything other than the title & author.

We also went to the Klimt, Gallen-Kallela & Vienna exhibit and a) there were way too many people there on a Wednesday afternoon and b) what a weird mishmash of a show. Very "can't rly get our hands on enough Viennese Secession painters, but guess what we have TONS OF. And he went to Vienna once!"

This turned up in my memories today although I'm fairly sure it was taken in September 2015. (Yikes.)

That sweater has since served a number of Russian Blues. It tends to get too short on them rather than too tight 😅

Bsky, you'll never believe what I read literally last month. I don't know that I've ever read a Nobel laureate this close to them getting the prize (in either direction).

2/? (I have tickets to eight but some are very late and there's a couple I really want to see but didn't buy tickets for yet) movies down!

Memoir of a Snail was very sweet and beautifully made.

Nouvelle Vague may have been the first French film I've seen where no-one took their clothes off?

Annals of me being surprised by my cats: this has literally never happened before, to the point where I admit I'm not even careful with yarn anymore (except when we have kittens), so there was about four hours when this could have happened. What the hell.

I've thought about these colored lights for literally three years, and this year I finally got them and uno what, consumerism is good actually.

Bad: that one super bright light in my neighbor's backyard, doing ??? for them while shining right in my eyes when I'm in bed.

Back to town today 😭

And started this one even though Senja has her doubts. I read Klein last year and liked it ok (me after hearing Bara Bada Bastu: hey, I've read a book by one of those guys!), so I knew I'd get to it sooner or later. I guess this is later since I meant it for the island and then didn't get to go.

A thing that is super delightful when reading in a foreign language is getting the jokes. Granted, that's because this is an all ages book where the narrator is a child, and the jokes are not particularly difficult, but I'm having a good time.

Are we going to move off this rock in the next half-hour? All signs point to no.

It's not like it's hidden away! That's the road off our property behind it! The outhouse is about 4m to the right! How did this happen 😂

Meanwhile, Esme went on a proper forest walk. There's a trail looping for about a kilometer in the woods that's my easiest mushroom path, and we walked that tonight! She was a bit apprehensive at times but mostly willing to follow me with minimal prompting.
