I went to the Netherlands on 3 different occasions (January, May and October) and in all circumstances there were as many bikes (if not more) as there were cars, and let me tell you it rained nearly every day 😭
You usually see Dutch biking videos when it’s warm & sunny.
We bike when it’s cold & rainy too. And more folks ride the bus.

Wij fietsen ook als het koud en regenachtig is. Maar meer mensen nemen de bus.

The thing a lot of these opinion pieces miss is that in today's information environment I can take 10 seconds of searching and find a host of opinions different than mine. It's easy. I don't need a social media site to do that, and especially not when, to Akiva's point, it's mostly trolls anyways.
Bluesky absolutely can broaden your horizons - and its ability to do so will only increase as more people start using it.
I don't need those horizons to include MAGA trolls (I'm open to them including MAGA non-trolls, despite my contempt for their views, but how many of those are on social media)
