Over the past 2,000 years in Europe, there have been few periods and places of freedom. For much of the time we lived under highly oppressive tyrannies of various kinds, whether small or grand, local or imperial, secular or religious.🧵

According to UNEP's latest #EmissionsGap Report, accelerated adoption of renewable energy and falling costs mean we have the tools to cut emissions now: www.unep.org/news-and-sto...

My morning @carbonbrief.org daily briefing is full of information on how NetZero continues to be attacked in the UK's right wing media, as we approach COP30. Climate action remains under attack and I feel depressed about this. How do we turn this tide?

Name a protest movement, anywhere or at any time, that has achieved its goals without being annoying and obstructive.
People like this enjoy the freedoms our political ancestors gained for them, while attacking the means by which they were achieved.

Nope, you make protest obstructive and annoying you lose the good will of the general population.
When they ring their local member to complain - they dont tell the local member to deal with the issues raised by the protesters, they tell them to deal with the protesters.
