The problem is that in 30 years Europe has not managed to get its act together to compete with North America on military hardware, IT, banking, internet, etc. Would detaching from China suddenly change that?

Beyond moral obligations and humanitarian ambitions, illegal immigration has cost to tax payers, just like many other things. Financial budgets need to balance many priorities and considerations. The topic should not be owned by the right wing, but should be viewed within overall financial reality.

And meanwhile in the background the USA will pull out all levers to make it as difficult and uncomfortable as possible for the UK to progress on these topics and Russia will ramp up their funding of #Brexit lies and disinformation.

We need a national conversation about a better Britain. I began with the Labour town hall keynote in Somerset, but it needs to spread. We need credible people to speak truth to power at events.

Pure speculation here, but if it’s not income tax, it might well be all of the others, because none of them add enough individually to move the dial.. Yet, experienced tax law firms tell me politicians are very hesitant to make such drastic changes to IHT and CGT.

Starmer and Reeves are very hateable (a leftist writes, but still). It's an odd combination of entitlement, humourless earnestness and a dogged determination to pursue policies that aren't popular and don't improve people's lives.

So Reeves decided she doesn’t have to raise income tax because of a better economic forecast – and then the economists shafted her by raising interest rates.

What a crock. The economic forecast is about as valuable as a spent piece of toilet paper. No ideas and no creativity make Jack a dull
boy.

If she doesn’t raise income tax, that’s kind of the main other option. Screwing the 12% of the population that pay 70+% of the taxes is standard practice… until a nation addicted to benefits finally implodes…something the OBR gives about 5 years.

In February 2017, Ruemmler called Trump “so gross.”

“Worse in real life and upclose,” Epstein responded.

In a separate 2017 exchange with an unidentified person, Epstein said of Trump, “your world does not understand how dumb he really is. he will blame everyone around him. for bad results.”
