Israel’s mass murder of 31 Yemeni journalists and media workers happened over a week ago. There has been zero coverage of this strike in the western press. Zero.

If one must, the preferred terminology in humanitarian circles is De Facto Authority (DFA) or Sana'a-based authorities

Then the Houthis allied with the old dictator and coup'd everyone into the current civil war

Among other things, the Houthi authorities have capitalized on popular solidarity with and legitimate concern for Palestinians to consolidate political control and stifle dissent. Their crackdown last summer/fall was awful and is not over. Human rights lawyers should know this.

I keep seeing increasing amounts of analysis framing the Houthis as "the new Hezbollah" or "the new leaders of the Axis of Resistance" and, at times, Abdulmalek himself as the "new Nasrallah" and, tbh, that whole line of framing strikes me as overly simplistic at best. (1)

and, as always, some of the most targeted during resurgences of economic nationalism and economic protectionism are migrants (esp migrant workers and refugees). this is *exactly* what the stabilization of capitalism requires. because insourcing & outsourcing are flipsides of the same capitalist coin

trade war btwn imperialist allies (US & Canada) is means to use economic nationalism to rally behind otherwise status-quo. struggle between 'foreign' & 'domestic' capital maintains capitalism, hurts ppl through price gouging, reinforces racist nationalism & intensifies extraction on Indigenous lands

On Trump tarrifs on Canada:

Important not to give into economic protectionism that bolsters nationalism & breaks transnational solidarity btwn workers, esp migrant workers

Instead, focus on ending *capitalist* trade, embedded in resource extraction. Oppose deregulation & strengthen public services
