Senate Democratic leadership essentially played dead today and greenlit the Trump-Musk-Vance coup. What is the point of the Democratic Party if it doesn't actually act like an opposition party? Hello?

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.

"The core issue is that Musk and Trump are acting *as if* they hold absolute power, even though they do not," says @chrislhayes.bsky.social. "They are, in that sense, bluffing. But it's a bluff they want to turn into a new reality, one that destroys the American constitutional order."

A judge temporarily restricted Elon Musk’s access to sensitive Treasury data.

This is an important win, but we will keep fighting to protect Americans.
BREAKING: Federal judge in D.C. blocks Musk from accessing sensitive Treasury Department systems and records. More to come.

Weird how not a single one of the newspapers and magazines that have been breathlessly churning out "cancel culture" thinkpieces for the past four years have managed to use the word "censorship" at all to describe the most rapid and comprehensive campaign of mass-censorship in recent US history.

When you order your morning coffee, you want to know that your barista is paid a fair wage.

But Starbucks isn’t just short-changing their baristas — they’re also stalling negotiations and union-busting.

Starbucks Workers United: We’ve got your back.
The Starbucks strike has begun at stores in LA, Chicago, and Seattle.

@sbworkersunited.org says other locations will join imminently, and the rolling strike will grow over the next several days.

537 locations with 12,000 workers are unionized and could join the shutdown.

ABC’s abject capitulation in Trump’s extremely weak defamation suit encouraged him to file his utterly baseless suit against the Des Moines Register, its pollster, and Gannett. Each surrender begets more blatant attacks on freedom of the press. Each attack ups the ante for us all. Courage is needed.

Some Democrats think the party has gone too far left and needs to readjust towards the “center.”

Rubbish.

Where’s the center between democracy and oligarchy, and why would Democrats want to be there?

Today in Oversight:

Republicans are advancing a bill that would fire all government workers - including Veterans - from offices related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, banning them from being reassigned.

How does firing qualified workers and Veterans improve efficiency?
