Principles of a survivor-centred approach should be applied during all phases of the documentation process.

Applying a survivor-centred approach to documentation can facilitate survivors' participation, reduce their risk of further harm, and reinforce their agency.

Since 2021, the IAPB has been documenting human rights violations in Belarus, working closely with civil society partners and survivors.

With civil society at the forefront of accountability efforts, new survivor-centred practices have emerged in the documentation of human rights violations.

Documenting serious human rights violations is vital to securing justice for survivors and holding perpetrators accountable, in Belarus and in other contexts.

The IAPB remains firmly committed to supporting justice for victims and ensuring accountability for human rights violations and international crimes in Belarus.

During the reporting period 88 additional survivors benefitted from the mental health and psychosocial support services, bringing the total number to 652 since the establishment of the IAPB.

🤝We strengthened cooperation with the UN Group of Independent Experts on Human Rights in Belarus, providing over 1,500 files of interview transcripts and supporting materials.

 We filed a submission following Lithuania’s referral of the situation in Belarus to the ICC, addressing potential crimes against humanity, and supported prosecutors in two jurisdictions.

We collected vital evidence to support judicial investigations — including 76new witness testimonies. Our databases reached 30,000+ witness-related documents, and 1.5 million open-source record.
