In my last job we did an experiment: we stopped fiddling with the homepage constantly and only updated it twice a day. This way we could layout the stories more like you would in print. Every user metric we tracked improved significantly.

Personally, I’ve always been pretty nervous about the idea that all the encrypted data that governments and corporations have intercepted will one day be trivial to decode. As their password cracker timeline demonstrates.
